Our Story
Meet the Owner
REM Sleep is founded, owned, and operated by Nikhil Patel. Nikhil’s roots run deep in the local community. Raised right here in St. Louis, Missouri, he attended the Kirkwood School District from kindergarten all the way through his senior year of high school. Following graduation, Nikhil enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, serving his country for over half a decade. During his military career, he served in presidential security and later transitioned to the infantry, deploying twice overseas and earning the rank of Sergeant.
From the Marine Corps to Entrepreneurship
After being honorably discharged from the Marine Corps, Nikhil returned home to St. Louis to further his education. Utilizing his GI Bill, he attended the University of Missouri–St. Louis (UMSL). It was during an entrepreneurship class at UMSL that Nikhil first discovered his passion for the mattress industry—realizing how deeply sleep affects daily health, performance, and overall quality of life.
Armed with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business and a desire to continue serving his community, Nikhil took a leap of faith. Using the money he personally saved during his time in active service, he fully funded and launched REM Sleep. Every mattress in our showroom represents that hard work, discipline, and commitment to building a trusted local business from the ground up.
